Kantil Champaca flowers sold in Badung Kumbasari market in Denpasar Bali

For those who have been to Bali are most likely to be familiar with these fragrant flowers placed in woven coconut leaves “canang” platter seen as daily offerings to the spirit gods. Each time I come to Bali it is this particular fragrance that I like that of the champaca kantil (Michelia alba) flowers and the scent of shredded green pandanus leaves. You can get a glimpse of these various flowers sold in Badung market in Denpasar. In the early morning you can see sellers busy preparing the flowers and placing them in their “canang” ready for offerings.
